Video production

In this intensive hands-on workshop you will learn how to film and edit your own videos!

Educational videos are a good medium e.g. to introduce a topic, create an overview or explain core concepts. Videos typically help students to remember and understand the substance. Educational videos are frequently used in blended learning, e.g. a flipped classroom context as knowledge acquisition prior to face-to-face teaching, group work, practice and discussions.

The course contains a number of tips and tricks to help you get started with making great video films for your education:

• Examples of different formats and how videos benefit students and teachers throughout the University of Copenhagen, and propose ways in which you can integrate video in your daily work.
• A brief introduction to the basic steps of making a successful production, from script to final product.
• Record and edit your video in groups. We use free/cheap and easy editing programs like Moviemaker or iMovie, that allow you to mix your footage with pictures, slides and graphics, as well as add titles, music and speak to your project.
• Uploaded you 1-2 minute video to Absalon, Youtube or other services.

Your preparations for the workshop:

In order to get the most out of the workshop we suggest that you:

• Watch the videosamples on this page to get inspiration
• Think of what 1-2 min video you would like to produce during the workshop
• Bring your own computer or iPad (preferably with a video editing program installed) or lend a computer from us. And possibly bring the camera you have at hand, e.g. a smart phone or an iPad. Or lend one from us.

Who is the workshop for?

The workshop is aimed at lecturers at SUND. There are no prerequisites for participation.
