Educational Technologies

Digital competences are the talk of the town! Whenever education is discussed, you hear about how we can improve the digital competences of the educators as well as the students. But how can we implement more technologies in our teaching to strengthen student learning?
The use of educational technologies (EdTech) is much more than putting a YouTube clip on Absalon or using clickers in a lecture. EdTech are powerful tools that you and your students can benefit from when used in a feasible didactical setting. Successful use requires knowledge on both the technologies and how to implement them in a course module.
In this course, you will learn how EdTech can support and improve teaching and how to apply EdTech in higher education and other teaching/training environments. Furthermore, you will learn how to produce your own content and how to integrate Open Educational Resources (OER), produced by others into your teaching.
The course will introduce the opportunities and challenges involved in using EdTech to create effective and student-centred learning environments in different educational setups (face-to-face learning, blended learning, online learning).
Specifically, the course will focus on 1) selecting, creating and managing digital resources, 2) applying EdTech (e.g. video/audio, student response systems, learning management systems, collaborative platforms, OER, etc.), and 3) working with continuous feedback, such as online quizzes and assessment of students in a digital workflow.
The participants in the course will get
- experience with and knowledge about online and blended learning (OBL) teaching activities
- hands-on experience with EdTech
- opportunities to reflect on the use of EdTech
The course is 2.6 ECTS one-week full-time course in March (9/3-13/3) with both onsite and online activities. The course is disseminated the week after with a small report including own productions of teaching material.
If you want to know more about how to benefit from EdTech this new PhD course offered by the Centre for Online and Blended Learning at SUND is definitely something for you.
