From India to SUND: New perspectives on teaching and learning

Learning

COBL’s visit to PEP partners in India was not only about sharing knowledge, but also about learning from colleagues in other contexts. The exchange is helping shape approaches that are also relevant for teachers at SUND.

In February 2026, a team from the PEP-UCPH project visited partners in India to continue developing online and blended learning in health professions education across the PEP partnership. For COBL, the visit was also an opportunity to test and refine teaching formats in close dialogue with international colleagues.

The programme included workshops, planning meetings, and exchanges of teaching experience with partners at the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) at the Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and Christian Medical College, Vellore (CMC). Topics included AI in teaching, creating collegial learning spaces, safe learning environments, and how to teach large classes in interactive and effective ways.

The workshops showed strong engagement across the partnership, with interactive formats such as role play, group discussions, and live polls proving valuable across contexts. Just as importantly, the collaboration is a genuine two-way exchange: together with our Indian partners, we are co-developing workshop formats and approaches that are also relevant for teaching and faculty development at SUND.

Members of the delegation from the Centre for Online and Blended Learning and the Department of Public Health also took part in an international conference at Christian Medical College, Vellore on bridging health professions education and clinical practice.

Overall, the visit strengthened relationships across the partnership and provided new ideas for future joint development work.
